STILL LIFE STUDY WORKSHOP

December 1 - 3 2009



We are excited to announce that the uniquely talented fiber artist Esterita Austin will be offering a workshop here at the Iron Horse Inn Artistic Retreat Center this coming December!
In this 3 day residential workshop you will learn:

  • To create a beautiful still life study in fabric and paint.
  • This is a simple and easy to learn fusing and painting technique.
  • By the end of the 3 day course you will have finished a 36" x 24" quilt top ready to be quilted.
  • No painting or quilting experience is necessary for this technique. You may be a beginner or advanced student.

ABOUT ESTERITA AUSTIN.

International award winning quilt maker, designer and teacher, Esterita Austin studied for her MFA in graphics and photography at Pratt Institute. Her work has been exibited in the American Museum of Folk Art in New York City. Esterita's quilt "The Well" was a prize winning piece in the museums international competition "Quilted Constructions: The Spirit of Design. " Esterita has been a guest speaker at the museums lecture series "Artists Speak". Her award winning piece is featured in the American Museum of Folk Art magazine "Folk Art". Esterita's work has been widely shown in International museums and galleries as well as published in magazines and books on fiber arts. As a female entrepreneur, Esterita was featured on the Sally Jesse Raphael Show and on "Simply Quilts" episode 1134. She has had an article on portraiture published in quilting Arts magazine Jan/Feb 2007.


. Esterita was also written up in the "Threads" section of New York Newsday. The use of textural and dimensional imagery has given Esterita's work unique style. She brings creative energy to all of her workshops, stimulating the imagination and invigorating the soul.



ABOUT THE IRON HORSE INN ARTISTIC RETREAT CENTER


The Iron Horse Inn is a 100 year old historic house set on over an acre of lush gardens with a bright airy 800 square foot art and quilting studio

THE QUILTING AND ART STUDIO

Participants enjoy a 2 night stay in the unique themed bedrooms, delicious breakfasts, lunches and afternoon snacks, and a full 3 days of study with the internationally acclaimed fiber artist Esterita Austin. The Iron horse Inn is situated just a few blocks from the historic town square of Granbury, Texas, where you can enjoy excellent restaurants , unique gift stores, museums, galleries and quilt stores.






WORKSHOP TIMETABLE

Tuesday December 1

Students arrive by 1pm.
Snacks
Class 2pm - 6.30pm (4.5 hours)

Wednesday December 2

Breakfast at 8 am
Classes 8.30 am to 1pm (4.5 hrs.)

Lunch 1 -2 pm
Class 2pm - 6.30 pm (4.5 hrs)

Thursday December 3

Breakfast 8am.
Class 8.30am -1pm (4.5 hrs)
Vacate rooms & lunch 1pm.
Depart by 4pm.

Total 18 hrs with teacher.
